(I wrote this a few years ago before Jordan started pre-school. But every word and prayer hold true today as he starts Kindergarten next week – even more so now!)
Dear Lord, Tuesday marks a great milestone in our lives – Jordan’s first day of preschool.
God, please protect him from germs, boys that bite, girls that pinch, snotty-nosed kids, and for an extra measure – germs, again. Please show him the way to the bathroom – in plenty of time, so he is not embarrassed, but rather feels victorious after his first day.
Guide him through the routine of the day and if you have to let the Holy Spirit sit on him so he remains still during circle time then so be it. He is very new to the concept of structure and having to relate to ten other children at the same time. Please arm the teachers will ark-loads of patience, they will need it.
Also God, do NOT hold anything Jordan says or does against us, his parents – unless of course it is something brilliantly smart or tender, sweet and kind – then we take full responsibility and credit.
On a last note, God – thank you for helping us get this far with Jordan. He is guided by a special angel in Heaven (my dad). Jordan makes us proud every day, and it is our hope and prayer that he will be equally as proud of himself.
