I love receiving mail. I enjoy greeting cards. I appreciate handwritten notes and I just adore traditional paper stationary and invitations. I am not sure which came first, my love for correspondence or my affinity for greeting cards. Regardless of the order of things, my first “real job” at 18 years old was at a card store.I got paid to help people pick out the perfect card for their loved one – or perhaps a not-so-loved-one… I had a talent for finding a card to fit any occasion. So when a friend recently asked if I thought she should send electronic or traditional invitations to a baby shower, my answer was simple – paper. Always paper, without a doubt.
Together we went online to Basic Invite’s website. Their selection of cute baby shower invitations caught our attention immediately.
Basic Invite had a wide selection of baby shower invitation themes – 58 different ones for boys alone. We quickly realized that we had to be organized about designing these invitation. The finished invitations were one of the special keepsakes the mom and guests would save to remember the special day, the baby’s first party.
Basic Invite made the design process so easy!
- Theme. We knew the mother had chosen a whale theme for her nursery. We decided to honor her choice, and therefore did a search for “whale”.
- Size of the invitation. Then we decided on the size paper we wanted, keeping in mind that odd, non-standard shapes cost more to mail.
- Colors. This is where Basic Invite really sets itself apart from other online greeting card companies. They had an entire color palate for us to work with and every image on the invitation was customizable. We changed the color of the font and on all the images throughout the invitation.
- Text. We had already written a draft of the verbiage for the invitation, so it was easily typed into the preselected format and off we went.
Before our eyes was an incredible creation that all in all took just a few minutes and four simple steps to make. We swiftly completed the order, making sure we bought at least 5 extra invitations. One of which we were going to frame and present to the mother-to-be on her big day. She would also be given the rest of the extras for the baby book and where ever else she wanted to store such keepsakes.
We were excited for our end result and now look forward to seeing the cute birth announcements she will order from Basic Invite since their website was so easy to use and the cards were fully customizable.
