I was provided four free VIP tickets to the local Pump and Dump show in return for my honest opinion and a giveaway. No other compensation was received. Getting out of dodge for a few hours without kids is worth it’s weight in gold though!
I look at the clock on the microwave, for the 6th time since the kids got into their latest argument. Isn’t it time for my knight in shining armor to come bursting through the door and exclaim “Dada’s home!” like he does every day?! He is officially 3.5 minutes “late” and today that feels like an eternity.
The kids have been at each other’s throats ever since I picked them up from school. At this rate, they should consider themselves lucky that I picked them up at all. Is that the garage door I hear? Oh the sweet sound of the calvary riding in to take over and relieve me of my parental duties, or at least that’s how I picture this going down.
Truth be told, I normally don’t relax completely until all four kids are in bed and asleep, however, tonight is different. Tonight is MOM’S NIGHT OUT!
Some times I feel that getting out of the house for a few hours isn’t worth disturbing the kids’ bedtime, coming home to a messy house and then having cranky kids the next day (because they didn’t get to bed on time). However, tonight is NOT one of those evenings.
I need a break, I deserve a break and I am really looking forward to getting out of the house for just a little while. I love my kids – I really do… but even mommies need to recharge once in a blue moon.

One of my favorite ways to get information for a blog post is to ask my readers for their input. It always strikes me how much I have in common with my Facebook followers. It is so encouraging to see how women from across the world share so many of the same thoughts and feelings about motherhood.
Here are the top eight things to do when Mom needs a break:
- Breakfast or lunch with friends.
- This is a great solution for moms with school-age children. Our afternoons and evenings are often jam packed with homework and after-school activities, which leaves the morning hours quiet and perfect for guilt-free socializing.
- Bingo, book club, bunco…
- I found that a good number of moms have regular meetings with like-minded women. I love this idea… and several moms admitted that “book club” should really be called “wine club” – but I won’t tell anyone if you don’t! However, if you find yourself in at a “real” bookclub meeting, these 10 book club questions should help you get the conversation flowing (and then the wine can flow later!)
- Dinner, drinks and a movie with your best friends.
- This sounds like an awesome time. Personally, I would skip the movie (because of my Narcolepsy) and just socialize that much more!
- Staying in, enjoying great conversations over appetizers and wine.
- Some of the moms have even done this in their PJs, which sounds DEVINE. Mom’s night out certainly doesn’t have to be “OUT and about”.
- Go to a local “sip and paint studio”.
- I can personally attest that those evenings are a hoot and you have your painting as a memory of the fun evening.
- Mom’s night alone!
- Sit in bed with pop corn and a good movie, take a long hot bath or read a good book in bed – ALL BY YOURSELF. YES! This idea is right up my alley. Some nights we need less interaction with the outside world.
- Pedicures and wine.
- Oh yeah! Combining pampering with great company and a glass of wine – how could that not be great for both the body, mind and soul?!
and then of course there is… one more fun activity for moms who need a break…
- Oh yeah! Combining pampering with great company and a glass of wine – how could that not be great for both the body, mind and soul?!
- Go to a concert or show with your BFFs.
- Attending a great concert or a funny comedy performance will take your mind off laundry, meal planning and school forms for a few precious hours.
Personally, I am excited for my next mom’s night out: I am seeing the wildly popular and much talked about comedy performance: “The Pump and Dump Show, “2017 Band of Mother’s Tour!”
If the Pump and Dump show is coming to your town, grab your BFF – and RUN from the house as fast as you can… because you are going to have a blast, laugh until your stomach hurts and you may even pee your pants a little… – or a lot, depending how good you are at doing your Kegels.

VALIDATING “BAD MOMS” EVERYWHERE BY GATHERING EVERY KIND OF
MOM IN ONE ROOM FOR ONE HELLUVA NIGHT!
Wednesday, March 1st the Improv in West Palm Beach, FL is proud to present The Pump and Dump “Band of Mothers” national tour. After three sold-out national tours, The Pump and Dump Show is back by popular demand with their notorious event filled with irreverent humor, original music, games, prizes, and a cathartic night away from the kids.
The Pump and Dump Show is a one-of-a-kind, interactive, live production designed as the ultimate respite for parents everywhere. Since its conception (pardon the pun) in Denver, Colorado in 2012, this event has become wildly popular and the perfect reason for moms to gather their #BREEDER friends, celebrate a mom-to-be or treat an exhausted girlfriend to her first night out postpartum. Original music includes songs like “Parental Lovin’,” “If Daddies Made Milk,” and “Eat Your F—ing Food.” Audience members (affectionately referred to as BREEDERS) play games like “Cervix Says” and “The Most F-ed Up Thing My Kid Has Done” to win bottles of wine and other fantastic prizes from local and national sponsors. The Pump and Dump Show’s 2017 Band of Mothers Tour continues its mission to spread mom karma, give high fives and uplift and encourage moms coast to coast.
The Pump and Dump Show is produced, written and hosted by lifelong friends and comedians Shayna Ferm and Tracey Tee who created the show in the throws of new-parenthood, feeling like moms just needed a night out and a cocktail.
