In a house full of little boys, there is great emphasis on super heroes, their incredible powers and how they always end up saving the day. Each of our four boys have their own favorite super hero. They were all dressed up as their idol this past Halloween and whenever we have family movie night we struggle to make everyone happy since none of their heroes appear in the same movies. I am sure you can imagine the drama. This weekend I was thrilled to introduce the boys to a new super hero who has joined forces with Marvel’s Avengers Assemble. This news was especially exciting to Jordan, since he s a big Avengers fan. Our boys loved hearing about Captain Citrus and learning about the values he represent. Captain Citrus is the new spokes-hero hired by the Florida Department of Citrus (“FDOC”).
He was brought on their team to spread the word about the Florida Citrus industry and what it stands for. Captain Citrus has the appearance of a real super hero, which of course he is. He is relatable to kids, even the older ones.
Captain Citrus reminds the kids through his actions in the comics series that 100% Florida Orange Juice is a great addition to a healthy lifestyle. Kids (and their parents) who visit the website learn about the “Amazing 5” benefits of having 100% Florida Orange juice in their daily routine.
The Amazing 5 are:
- Taste
- Vitamin C
- Folate
- Potassium
- No added sugar.
This weekend we really used Captain Citrus to our advantage. We talked about the Florida grown oranges, supporting local Florida businesses. The kids LOVED reading the Captain Citrus comics online. Jacob sat down with his younger brothers and read them the stories – with sound effects and character voices.
They had SO MUCH FUN (see picture as proof!) Each of the boys had their own reason to embrace Captain Citrus’s Amazing 5 benefits of drinking 100% Florida Orange Juice.
Jacob (8) had soccer try-outs, three long sessions over the past week. This was his first time trying out for travel soccer, so it’s a big deal in our family. He started his morning off with a healthy breakfast, which of course included a big glass of 100% Florida Orange Juice. Jacob played well… so now we wait for the phone call to see IF he made the team!
Jordan (6) is a VERY picky eater. He only eats maybe 5 different foods and trying new flavors is like pulling teeth. Thankfully he already loves 100% Florida Orange Juice. He has a glass every day, and we are thankful that he at least drinks it without any issues. I am thrilled though that he was even more eager to eat his breakfast this morning after I read the Captain Citrus comics to him.
Jansen (3) and Jonah (1) are NOT picky eaters, thankfully. But having juice in the house came in handy when I made them popsicles from our 100% Florida Orange Juice. Jonah is teething something fierce, so enjoying a homemade popsicle made from the 100% Florida Orange Juice that Captain Citrus talks about was soothing and delicious. Jansen enjoyed one as well – out of sympathy for his brother’s discomfort.
Introduce your child to Captain Citrus and his all important message of making good food choices. I know you will love seeing your child’s reaction when they realize that super heroes also have to eat a healthy and balanced diet to stay SUPER!
The website has awesome word puzzles and coloring pages too, perfect for summer entertainment for your kids!
I am really excited to share the Captain Citrus Facebook contest because the prize pack is out of this world. Head over to the Facebook page for Captain Citrus.
The winner will have their child’s likeness and voice-over used in an episode of Avengers Assemble on Disney XD. The prize also includes a trip to LA, round-trip transportation for four, 3 days/ 2 night hotel stay, a tour of the Marvel Studios and a whole lot more!
We are huge fans of Captain Citrus in our house – for good reason. He is the newest super hero on the block and he executes his missions perfectly, always with an emphasis on eating a good balance diet. I can’t wait to see how his message will positively impact our kids over time.
What a great way to get kids to eat healthy! I love it!!!!
Our kids love orange juice too (well all juice really lol). It’s one of the few I’ll willingly give once in a while compared to the others. Especially when they’re sick and need a vitamin boost!
I’d never heard of this before, but it sounds like a lot of fun!
OH my son needs this!! He’s such a picky eater and I swear he wont ever listen to me or his father lol!! I worry about his nutrition and hope that one day he will turn around!! Maybe he needs a super hero to help 😉
