Make Christmas More Fun With These DIY Advent Calendars:

I think we can agree that the excitement for Christmas and the whole Christmas season easily starts to build somewhere between the day after Christmas and the first day of school.  We try to put off getting to consumed by it until we have had a frightfully good Halloween, and an appropriately thankful Thanksgiving – but let’s face it.  As soon as the leftovers from the bounty have been put away, it’s time to allow ourselves and our little ones to indulge in the spirit (and the anticipation) of Christmas.

Of course, one of the most popular ways to build that excitement is with an Advent Calendar, and there are many, many store bought options to get you on your way to the Christmas countdown.  However, for those of you who like to get a little more hands on, and have a festive crafty streak, here are over a dozen DIY Advent Calendar ideas to fuel your fire.

DIY Advent Calendars Your Kids Will LOVE:

This Big Box Advent Calendar by Mod Podge Rocks is one of my favorites, simple because it’s awesome.  Also, there are so many ways you can personalize this!

The Paper Cut Advent Village Calendar by Lia Griffith is stunning and charming and is perhaps perfect for getting into the spirit of the holiday.

The simplicity of the Fabric and Ribbon Advent Calendar by Sustain My Craft Habit is very appealing, and no less special.  For an extra special touch you could upcycle some well-loved fabric.

This Felt Advent Calendar by Make Life Lovely is reminiscent of the felt boards we use to play with when we were little.  Are those still a thing?

This Scratch off Advent Calendar by a Beautiful Mess is ingenious.  Absolutely brilliant and a handy dandy tutorial is also included!

Again with the simple and uncomplicated (who else heard the collective sigh?) is this lovely Advent Jar by Poppytalk.

And, it’s not surprise that we have what you might call a ‘thing’ for LEGO around here, and therefore I could not resist including this LEGO Advent Calendar by Frugal Fun for Boys and Girls.

Oh, and again with many ways to personalize and customize, this Advent Tree from the Craft Train is just wonderful.

These DIY Christmas advent calendars are Christmas fun for the whole family. #Advent #Adventcalendars #DIYChristmas #DIYAdventCalendar #DIYAdventCalendars #CountdowntoChristmas #mamainthenow #ChristmasCraftsI love how this Photo Advent Calendar by Red Ted Art encourages you to go through all of those photos you are storing on your device… no judging.

I may have actually squealed when I found this Punch Out Advent by DIY Studio.  I mean seriously, isn’t it the funnest advent calendar you’ve ever seen?

The clothespin / festive card combo is very popular and with good reason.  This Modern Advent Calendar by Homey oh My is a very elegant version and would complement almost any décor.

I love this Magnetic Advent Calendar by Somewhat Simple.  I am thinking a personalized version for school lockers would be a big hit.

And where would we be without chocolate?  Chocolate just adds to every occasion and this Chocolate Advent Calendar by Practically Functional means you get to decide just how much (more) chocolate to use!

Persia Lou has put a super clever twist on a Modern Advent Tree and it is simple, creative and really quite lovely.

And of course, this Christmas Tree Advent Tree from Tatertots and Jello is super festive as well as heaps of fun!  Making it might be just as exciting as using it.

I see a DIY weekend in your future.
