What does every pregnant mama need? The one thing we all long for during our nine months (more or less) of incubation is SUPPORT! “Support” in some fashion. Whether it is from our partner, our friends, family, or even if it is in form of belly support – we all welcome it, and at times greatly NEED as much of it as our surroundings can give us.

This is my fourth pregnancy, and as some of you know, I am known for my rather sizable belly (and babies). In my other pregnancies I suffered from a good amount of lower back pain, especially during the third pregnancy. Half way through this pregnancy I started to feel the beginning signs of lower back issues and I panicked! I reached out to my trusted community of mommy friends and asked for advice! I heard from several moms that they also had the same issue, but never found the right product to relieve the stress on their lower back.

Finally someone mentioned the “Belevation” belly band! I did a quick Google search and to my heart’s content I found that this belly band was not like the others. There were no straps, velcro, suspenders or anything that resembled a back brace worn by Home Depot employees. (No offense to Home Depot employees – I am SURE your back braces work well for the intended purpose, I just wanted to look LESS industrial and more comfortable – but that’s just me).

The Belevation Belly Band looks at first glance a lot like “the other” belly bands on the market, but not to be fooled – not all belly bands are created equal! The Belevation band is made of a greatly supportive material that does NOT get too hot – even in the subtropic climate in which I live. It offers added support RIGHT where you need it – in the lower lumbar area and right under your belly. This belly band actually has a front and a back, and it is therefore important that you put it on the right way! Although I tend to get rather large, the website recommended sizing DOWN if you are in between sizes – so I did. I got a band in size Medium, which still fits me today as I am 36 weeks pregnant with a baby projected to be on the larger size.

I wear my Belevation band as often as possible, especially when I am at work, have to walk, sit or do any one thing for an extended period of time. I find that it provides just the right about of support on my lower back (reminding me to keep my posture SOMEWHAT decent). It helps my “sagging” belly to feel the love and support it needs not to succumb to the evil forces of gravity! I wear my band day in and day out, and it is still as supportive and full of elastic-life as the day I bought it.

The Belevation band does not bunch, roll or cut into the skin in any way. It is almost like walking around with a big supportive bear hug wrapped around you. Best of all – as an added bonus, which their website surprisingly does NOT highlight…. (drum roll, please) – it smooths out my pointy belly button!!!! Come on pregnant mamas, is there ANYTHING more annoying than strangers saying “oh look – your belly button popped, the baby must be ready!”, or having your already sensitive belly button bump into something (OUCH!)… wearing the Belevation band ensures that your belly looks just beautifully round and smooth in all its glory!
And by the way, I have NOT had any further lower back discomfort during this pregnancy!!!

I have not tried any of the other Belevation products, which include maternity briefs, boy shorts and mid-thigh petti-pants. But I am so thrilled with my experience with the Belevation belly band that I feel comfortable with the company’s quality and craftsmanship that I recommend trying their entire line of maternity support wear. All their products are also made in the USA.

I am thrilled to announce that the company has offered one of our readers a free Belevation belly band, color and size to be determined by the winner of our random drawing. Please note that this product would also make a great surprise gift to one of your pregnant friends – a great way to show that you “support her”! Enter our drawing today, whether it is for you or a dear friend. It is a raffle with easy entry requirements and great chances of winning. It would truly make a great gift… I was thinking of wearing mine backwards AFTER the baby has been born – so the added support for the lumbar is pushing my stomach in… ha ha ha

The belevation band seems bigger and more supportive than the bellabands I’ve seen in stores. I’m 23weeks pregnant and could use the support as my belly grows.

It is definitely more supportive than any other band I have tried. Good luck with your pregnancy – I hope you feel great!

I love that it helps cover the belly button! Why do people feel the need to reach out and touch it?!? 🙂

Is the belevation band better than the bella band or the tummy sleeve from motherhood maternity? It’s my first pregnancy, so I haven’t tried any of them yet. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

YES! I have used both the bella band and the one from the Motherhood Maternity stores. I felt the belevation band did what those bands do – and more – it offered more support in my back and lower belly (and that part is helpful for when you get bigger). GOOD LUCK with your pregnancy! Try to enjoy it!
